Extremely rare to find. Released in 1990s complete set from the Franklin Mint. Local pickup only. No original packaging.
Included – the board, 32 gold plated pieces, optional glass cover with top.
Noted issues –
- Each of the 32 playing pieces is intricately sculptured, then richly coated in 24 karat gold – Look like new
- The playing board is framed in rich hardwood and trimmed with accents of ebony black and gleaming 24 karat gold – looks very good!
- The board corner guards. 2 corner guards are very good. the other 2 corner guards were separated at a foot. This is a common issue with this set. Sold as is. You can get these 2 guards replaced for a fee of $45.
- Glass cover – extremely hard to find, extremely fragile, hence local pickup only. Some wear to the metal parts, should be polished. A very small crack in one of the lower corners. Hardly noticeable. The top is used to lift the cover. This is not the original top, but it works and looks naturally as it is made from one of the original pawns.

From the FM –
“It began over three thousand years ago, in ancient Egypt’s Valley of the Kings, where a great pharaoh died at the tender age of 18–and with him was laid to rest the treasures of his kingdom, many made entirely of solid gold! They lay buried for centuries, until in 1922 world-acclaimed archeologist Howard Carter discovered them once more. Today those priceless masterworks are displayed in museums and can only be experienced from afar. Now you can own a masterpiece reflecting the incomparable splendor of the greatest art discovery of all time. The Treasures of Tutankhamun Chess Set. . And each represents a revered artifact from the era of Tutankhamun himself. The set includes a dust cover — a pyramid-shaped showpiece crafted of solid glass and polished brass.”
